Classic Valentine Made New

Monday, January 9, 2017

I am taking a charming classic Valentine to a new level today by simply switching the materials. I remember making these hearts as a kid in school. I made a trip tp the local craft store with a blank slate in my mind. After wandering the aisles for quite some time found Christmas wired ribbon at a Seventyfive percent off sale. Then the cardstock paper was Fifty percent off too. I bought the both and set out my supplies to make the classic valentine into a new updated version of the woven hearts.

Hearts A Flutter Valentine Decor

Thursday, February 12, 2015

Love is in the air which means my heart is all a flutter. While shopping for craft room storage at a  half price sale in January #AHeapOfChangeChallenge. I wandered by the valentine displays as I was piling up the first cart with items I deemed necessary to an organized craft space. (Squirrel) I wanted to make a decoration with materials slightly out of the box. As Prince Charming headed for the second cart I chose a bunch of silk roses in ivory and pink, 2 cardboard hearts and valentine card stock. I already had bakers twine in red, pink and white at home. After the cashier rang up our two carts of sale items we filled the car and headed home.
I will be posting about the storage and organized craft room reveal soon.

Print & Cut Valentine's Day Banner

Monday, February 9, 2015

Welcome to the second Silhouette Challenge Facebook Group of 2015. Print & Cut with a choice to raise the bar and use hearts. Easy peasey right!
The plan was to get this accomplished on Monday. I finished it Wednesday night with a few bumps in the road due to equipment failure. Yes failures happen to bloggers all the time. We are human and have the same frustrations as other people when their machines do not work.

Here is what I chose to print from the items I have already purchased at the Silhouette store. This was my first step.
In this picture I am showing you how to not cut the flowers because that is my pattern. Not my cut selection because I will be cutting out letters.

Love Blends Four Generations

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

This time of year we warm-up from love in our hearts. We spend time thinking of young love, romance, engagements, and weddings. It is almost Valentine's Day! This Summer I had the honor of connecting a family heirloom to four generations. This heirloom is Prince Charming's mothers wedding gown and veil worn the the day my husbands parents were married. The second treasure is his sister's veil from her wedding day to her husband.
Prince Charming parents on their wedding day 67 years ago. Back ground and lace from her dress and her only daughter.
My niece was getting married to her beloved Beau. I asked her if she wanted me to make her ring bearer pillow (my great nephew) out of part of her grandmother's wedding attire and her mom's veil. She said yes! I was thrilled as Auntie Karen Marie loves to make things special for the, "Kids." In the planning process I had a brainstorm my twin Great nieces would need bows for their hair as flower girls. We decided that they would each wear a custom made hair bow from the dress and veils of there Great Grandma and Nana (Grandmother).

Sweetheart Garland or Streamers

Thursday, January 30, 2014

Hearts dancing from the warm breeze in the trees is a fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day, a wedding shower, and my parents 60th wedding anniversary.  I played with more colors than red and pink to make them more playful. Then used Glitter, metallic, and matte texture card stock to add the flutter of the hearts swag.

The hearts cut from my Silhouette Cameo are four different sizes. Each one has a small double hole punch to tie and space the fishing line to make each swag

As Valentine's Day is coming thoughts of love is in the air come to mind. I am sure there will be engagements, weddings and anniversaries to celebrate.
I even used the leftover card stock to add to the table by them to add a pop of color on the white and lace table clothes. These would be cute to add on top of place mats or under your tablescape for a sweetheart dinner to celebrate your love.
