One of my favorite times of year is Christmas. In the Gift giving spirit The Silhouette Challenge Facebook Group December Challenge is here along with a Holiday Giveaway. We have 35 Group members and +Silhouette America helping us gather this Giveaway for this special time of year.
During November Shannon Lifjstrom-Abele from the SC group coordinated an Ornaments Swap, of 152 members, sending ornaments made for their partner across the world. My partner was Audra Grace Allegri who is a rehabbing, sewing, Spartan fan, newly wed all while, running her own business +joysphere . I was brainstorming when it hit me to make a gift filled with her favorite things. I created a shaker globe out of a large round plastic ornament from +Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores shapes from my trusty +Silhouette America , and my Silhouette Cameo. Below is my tutorial on how I made this personalized Christmas ornament.
Next I took the pieces I cut out and assembled them to create her favorite things. You can see in these pictures if you look closely there is a sewing machine, the world, 2014, initials, her logo for her shop and blog. Can you see the house, hammer, and Michigan with the S cut out for Spartans.

First I found as many shapes I could use to symbolize the different activities, teams people, and places she loved. As I did this I found out we both have a few similarities. We both enjoy sewing, remodeling, creating, marriage, cheering for our favorite team and Michigan is a special place to both of us.
I placed all the items and the pieces on my 12"x12" mat. I estimated how the pieces would fit into the opening without bending the objects to much. I placed items of similar color together, and cut them out with the cut and no cut featureNext I took the pieces I cut out and assembled them to create her favorite things. You can see in these pictures if you look closely there is a sewing machine, the world, 2014, initials, her logo for her shop and blog. I included a red Ohio with a heart cut out for the town Audra and her husband Josh live. Of course could not forget the mistletoe for the newlywed couple.
Audra can hang this ornament in her tree and see glimpses of moments in her life. The final items I added came form Michigan where I celebrated 4th of July. These little confetti of stars, bursts, and circles in gold and white were scraps from my banner. If you missed it click here. Please share your questions or comments. I will personally answer each one because they mean so much to me.Now this is Normally where I say:

This is fabulous Karen. You put so much thought into personalizing it - just such a lovely idea.
Karen, this is SUCH a thoughtful ornament. I love that you included your recipient's favorite things inside. It reminds me of an ornament I made for my Dad as a little girl...but the fact that you cut all these items with your Silhouette machine UPs the cool factor by a million. So glad you joined us for our December Challenge and Giveaway. Thanks for adding your creativity into the mix!
