It is an exciting day on D&LP today. Today is Themed Makeover Day! I can hear the cheers rising from around the world. Darlins' I have joined a group of ladies who make over furniture. This month is Farmhouse, lucky me I purchased two nightstands earlier in the year with good bones for this style of project.
I have been moving tables around The Dragonfly house to serve as a nightstand in our guest room. Right now there is a beach table I made holding the router for our internet that was a nightstand during the winter months.
Because of this awesome challenge, I took a plain jane table, dressed her farmhouse style creating a nightstand and a place for the WIFI router. Opps! I slipped up with all the excitement and forgot to take a before picture. I took a picture after I started the table with its first coat of custom color chalky paint. I layered the paint with a dry brush technique as you can see below.
During this month, I gave myself an additional challenge. Spend as little as possible! I used paints, supplies, and of course, the table from my leftover stash. The only item I purchased, was a 4 X 4 which Prince Charming used to change out the feet. It had large bun feet that were curvy that did not fit the style of the farmhouse table or the AnaWhite designed Daybeds he built which are already in the room.
After finishing the table with a coat of white tinted wax, I am thrilled with her layers of a lifetime added in a few days.
This time-worn nightstand will be perfect touch against the dark Jacobean Minwax stain of daybeds welcoming our guests into our home. A book to read with a quilt to snuggle under makes me feel like I would like to visit this room. Hmmm! I just might. My friend Karen made me beautiful burlap monogram in a barn wood frame. Bestill my heart, I just love it.
My Mom made the +Chicago Blackhawks inspired afghan for Prince Charming which tucked into the wine crate is ready for a chilled PC or guest after a day of fun at the lake.
You might notice the block foot here. I choose not to layer them, to ground the piece. I am on the fence as to if I will add a few layers, maybe the white wax? What are your thoughts? I would love to hear your thought in the comments. Please!
