Furniture Refresh Family Style

Thursday, October 8, 2015

Hi, my Darlin's has this been a busy season for me. I bet you have been busy too. This is the First Furniture Refresh during the month of October we have been given a theme (Inspired).  This little table has sat by my door waiting for a new look. I call this table Family Style because it came from my husbands family and it needed to be dressed and styled since the day I brought her home.
She belongs to the Cihlar part of the family which is Prince Charmings Mothers relatives. My Darlin's that have followed me have seen her before in a few posts.
Her before picture leaves a bit to be desired. Hidden among all the scratches, water marks, and damaged finish is a hand carved table from PC's Grandparents or Great Grandparents. Since she has survived the family this long I decided to give her a simple look with DecoArt Chalky Paint in two colors and finishes.

Here is the table with a coat of Black Chalky paint on the whole piece. The top has one Coat of DecoArt Gloss Max Grey as you can see. I was given this product in my Swag Bag from the Randolph Street Market First Midwest DIY Blogger Roundup I hosted in August. Thank you DecoArt for giving all the attendees such a lovely product to use. I love the glossy finish mixed with the flat finish of the Chalky Paint. (This is a sponsored post because I was given the DecoArt Glossy Max Paint.) The opinions are my own as always. I bought the other supplies I used f or this project. This paint is a great quick and easy product to use. Honestly, I was not sure I would like the Glossy Max line of product but, I am pleasantly surprised. I tend not to be a shiny girl when it comes to furniture but, a girl can change her mind.
While I grabbed a bite to eat I am calling her Grandma since she is family, her paint was drying. Then I added silver accents to her hand carving. I know I said, I am not a glossy girl, but I love to sparkle. As you can see a few close-up details in these pictures her before picture did not do her justice.
Below is Grandma as she begins to get her style on. A few simple items of decor and she will be happy to greet you at the door.
Can you see the Glossy finish reflecting the tin ceiling tile in the top of the table? I think it really brings her into this century.
Do you like the mix of flat, gloss, and metallic? I love how the hand carving is so much easier to see and the black and gray made the table look so much brighter.
