Love Blends Four Generations

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

This time of year we warm-up from love in our hearts. We spend time thinking of young love, romance, engagements, and weddings. It is almost Valentine's Day! This Summer I had the honor of connecting a family heirloom to four generations. This heirloom is Prince Charming's mothers wedding gown and veil worn the the day my husbands parents were married. The second treasure is his sister's veil from her wedding day to her husband.
Prince Charming parents on their wedding day 67 years ago. Back ground and lace from her dress and her only daughter.
My niece was getting married to her beloved Beau. I asked her if she wanted me to make her ring bearer pillow (my great nephew) out of part of her grandmother's wedding attire and her mom's veil. She said yes! I was thrilled as Auntie Karen Marie loves to make things special for the, "Kids." In the planning process I had a brainstorm my twin Great nieces would need bows for their hair as flower girls. We decided that they would each wear a custom made hair bow from the dress and veils of there Great Grandma and Nana (Grandmother).
Hair bows made from Great Grandma's and Nana's Wedding dress connects 4 generations.

Ikea Computer Cabinet Transformed Into Craft Cabinet

Friday, January 23, 2015

Part of my Dancing in the Craft Room plan was to convert my computer cabinet to becoming a hard to recognize craft cabinet. I am thrilled to have +DecoArt  sponsor the plan to take a pine +IKEA USA computer cabinet that we no longer used into a craft cabinet. This was my first time and they said yes! I will include a list of supplies I purchased and sponsored provided at the end of the post.

The Before picture of the Ikea computer cabinet with the  rug purchased at +Tuesday Morning is the color inspiration for Dancing In The Craft Room II.
Ikea Cabinet DecoArt, Decor Americana Chalky Paint Finish, First coat Treasure
The first coat already looks beautiful. I could have stopped here. I love the color named Treasure. This cabinet has to compliment our family room colors. I need to tone it down to better suit the area. Look closely through the next few posts to see where I kept that bright color I love in the cabinet.

Dancing In The Craft Room II

Thursday, January 15, 2015

I started my Craft room last year with the enthusiasm of a child playing with a new puppy. Sometimes no matter what our goal in life is God has another plan. In this case this plan would change my whole families life. We chose to help people we loved with overwhelming health trouble. The good news is they are safely in good place now and we are hoping for the best.

2015 Blog Planner Designed for Dragonfly & Lily Pads

Monday, January 12, 2015

We are all planning to get organized for 2015. This is my first year using a traditional planner. I can see the challenges are stacked against me as my plans seem to be ever changing. Are your days like mine? Starting out with strong goals to accomplish, ending with where did the day go, and adding at least a few of the tasks to the next day.
The Silhouette Challenge for January is organization. Last year I did Create Craft Room Labels which was part of my The Best of 2014 a Year Review. This is the first time since I participated in the challenge I have made something for my blog. I think after a year of giving me a great sense of accomplishment this project of mine deserves some attention. Since I bought the planner I decided to give it a little shot of Dragonfly & Lily Pads decor. My strategy: if  I am going to work with the planner everyday it mine as well look pretty.
I bought this planner from the +Dollar Store selected my vinyl colors from my stash of a variety of companies. You can see the colors behind the planner and in the +Silhouette America Cameo.

Rust Ravaged to Beauty Salvaged Lamp

Friday, January 9, 2015

This poor lamp was ravaged by the salt air of sea side living in Florida. Now I realize these are not glamour shots but, I was working under difficult conditions. This sweet Lamp was used to stage a home I was tasked with getting ready For Sale in less than two weeks. The lamp was in the home as you see it in the before getting ready to paint. I bought two types of paint the gray that I decided to use the Bronze hammered.  I did not use it in this project.

It was a gorgeous sunny day so I had to keep the lamp in the shade of the carport so it would not dry

My Five Favorite Posts of 2014

Friday, January 2, 2015

My favorite posts from 2014 are probably different then yours but that is because they are my projects and I know the why, what, when and how of each one. I am learning how to express myself to share those portions of the story with out becoming *boring! Of course I want to write a great tutorial, take awesome pictures, and keep you interested in coming back. Telling all the back stories might become a Blah, ba, ba type of post. +Michele Alger owner of Shelstringblog asked a group of us to round up our favorite post of the year.

At first I though this is a piece of cake but, then it was like choosing a favorite child. They all are special to me, although it was hard to choose here are my 5 favorite posts no particular order.

Joy It Is 2015

Thursday, January 1, 2015

Word of the year, Joy, 2015, Lights, Sparkling Joy, Teal, White, Circles
These three letters have a lot of work to do this year. I am using Joy as my word for the year. What does that mean? The easiest way to explain is this years word was determination. When I picked that word I thought it would encourage me to get things done, take care of myself, build the blog, and have some fun. I had no idea how much I needed that word.
